Monday, February 13, 2012 Singerly was alerted to assist Chesapeake City with a working barn fire, Engine 13, Tanker 13, Tower 3 and Ambulance 392 would respond to assist. Engine 13 would establish a draft site at a dry hydrant on Brantwood Golf Course, Tanker 13 would shuttle several loads of water and the crews from Tower 3 and 392 would standby and provide manpower on scene.
Monday, January 30, 2012 Singerly, Rising Sun and North East were alerted for the reported Chimney Fire. Assistant 13 would arrive to find a 200 year old, 3 story residence with nothing evident. The crew from Engine 13 was sent to the interior to clean out the wood stove, while 813’s crew went to the roof and dropped chains to clean out the built up creosote. E18 and 412 would stand by on scene until it was confirmed that there was no extension and the box was placed under control.
Sunday, January 22, 2012 Singerly was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident reported with rescue, Assistant Chief 3(Hill), E3, E13, E14, 392 and 2 aviation units responded. Crews would find 2 vehicles in the area of the intersection with 2 patients trapped in 1 vehicle. Crews began extrication on a pediatric patient that would be flown to a local trauma center. Crews then turned to the driver who was extricated and also flown to the trauma center. Assistant Chief 3 held the Command and crews operated on scene for over an hour extricating the 2 patients and clearing the scene of hazards.
Sunday, January 22, 2012 Singerly, West Grove and North East were alerted for the fuel spill with more than 50 gallons reported to have been released. Squirt 13 and Assistant Chief 3 (Hill) marked up immediately while returning from an Automatic Fire Alarm; Crews would arrive to find approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel that had leaked from an auxiliary fuel tank onto the edge of the parking lot and into the ditch. The Cecil County HAZMAT Team and MDE were requested to assist with clean up, while units from West Grove and North East were cleared. Crews from Squirt 13, Engine 3, Engine 13 and Engine 14 would use absorbent to line the ditch and prevent to fuel from flowing any further down towards the creek. The HAZMAT Team would arrive and assist with placing absorbent pads down to soak up the fuel. The scene was turned over to the HAZMAT Team and MDE to handle removal of the fuel and contaminated soil.
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 Singerly, North East and Chesapeake City were alerted for the Odor of Smoke in the residence with a report of 1 subject injured on Constitution Terrace, Assistant Chief 13 was 1st on scene and advised that he had a 2 story Single Family Dwelling with nothing evident, and established command. With the homeowner complaining of light respiratory distress, a headache and dizziness. Based on this report the crews from Squirt 13 and Rescue 13 checked the residence with a Thermal Imaging Camera and Gas Meter for a possible gas or CO emergency. The homeowner refused transport by EMS and interior crews found 0 CO readings and a light dissipating odor in the residence.
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 While wrapping up the assignment on Constitution Terrace, Singerly, North East and Chesapeake City were alerted for the house fire on Liberty Ln with smoke reported in the residence. Squirt 13 was 1st on scene with Rescue Captain 13 establishing the Liberty Ln Command. Crews encountered smoke conditions through out the residence and began investigating with the Thermal Imaging Camera. Command was transferred to Assistant Chief 13 upon his arrival, shortly after crews advised that they had located a fan motor burnt up on the furnace which had charged the house with smoke through the duct work. Power was isolated from the furnace and the house was ventilated to remove the smoke. The homeowner was provided with new working smoke detectors, due to the detectors in the residence failing to activate.
Saturday, January 7, 2012 Original received as an investigation for a smoke detector going off in an adjacent residence, the caller would then advise that smoke could be seen in the residence through the window, this drew the box assignment pulling, Singerly, North East and Chesapeake City. Assistant Chief 14 and Safety 3-2 arrived with Elkton Police and advised that they had smoke in the residence, the crew from Squirt 13 and Tower 3 located unattended cooking, and while performing a search of the residence located a resident in an upstairs bedroom asleep. The resident was evaluated by EMS but refused treatment and transport.
Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Singerly along with Paramedic 2 were alerted for the Motor Vehicle Accident. Chief 3 was 1st on scene and advised that he had 2 vehicles, head on with light rescue on 1 vehicle. Rescue 13 was assigned to perform a door pop on the vehicle, while EMS treated the single patient and handled a patient refusal.
Friday, December 30, 2011 Singerly, Chesapeake City and North East, along with Paramedic 2 were alerted for the reported working house fire on Church St in Elkton. Deputy Chief 13 would arrive and confirm fire showing from the Bravo Side of a balloon construction 2.5 story duplex, Deputy 13 established the Church St Command. Squirt 13 was assigned to lay a supply line from the hydrant at Church and High Sts and deploy a 1 3/4" hand line to the 2nd floor. Chief 3 would arrive and have Command transferred to him, with Deputy 13 assuming Operations. The crew from Engine 13 was assigned to vent the roof, Tower 3 was assigned to search the Delta Exposure due to a report from a neighbor of the homeowner still inside. Engine 14's crew would function as the IRIT. The attack crews were making progress accessing the fire on the 2nd floor in the rear of the building, while the roof crew placed 3 excellent vent holes in the roof of the structure. The crew from Tower 3 was performing a search of the Delta Exposure when one of the personnel ran out of air in his SCBA. The crew leader radioed a MAYDAY and advised that a firefighter was out of air and that a ladder was needed to the 2nd floor, Delta side for rapid extrication. The IRIT was deployed into the exposure building and a crew from North East was walking up to the scene and was able to place a ladder in service to assist the firefighters out of the structure. 1 Firefighter was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and was released later that evening. Meanwhile the crews continued the aggressive attack on the fire, but due to the building construction and heavy fire loads were evacuated from the structure. As crew were evacuated a firefighter exiting the structure collapsed. A Paramedic/FF exiting the structure with that member assessed the patient and began CPR, Additional ALS providers were able to hook the patient to a LifePak and shock him within 1 minute of going down, the patient was alert, oriented and talking before being transported to a local hospital, a great job was done by all involved. Squirt 13 and Ladder 4 were placed in service and knocked the fire from the exterior, once the fire was knocked crews were placed back into the structure for overhaul. Crews operated on scene for approximately 4 hours.
Wednesday, December 14, 2011 Singerly, Rising Sun and West Grove were alerted for the reported house fire. Chief 3 was 1st on scene and advised that he had a kitchen fire and 1 patient with burns to the hands. EMS on scene requested aviation for the burn patient (later canceled). Crew from Engine 14, Engine 13 and Engine 3 checked the kitchen and confirmed that the fire had been extinguished
